ReVanced Manager is a very useful app that allows to modify Android apps (eg. UI modifications) within patches that are applied to original apps.
It can be used both on rooted and non-rooted devices. This guide is for non-rooted devices but will work on rooted devices.
Main difference is that on rooted devices Revanced Manager can directly patch the target app without requiring the app to be sideloaded. On non-rooted devices it generates a patched APK that you need to sideload.
On rooted devices Revanced Manager offer additional features and customization options that may not be available on non-rooted devices.
There are patches for various Android apps, for example for YouTube, Spotify.
Let see how to create a patched version of YouTube app (don’t uninstall the stock version installed).
Download and install latest Revanced Manager version from official site.
Once opened you can see this dashboard.
Both app and patches updates are quite frequent and if there is a new version you will be prompted to download and install it.
Tap on Patcher, then Select an app and search for YouTube.
Tap on Suggested vXX.XX.XX.
A browser will open with the search terms of the suggested APK version, it’s recommended to download from APKMirror site.
Go back into ReVanced Manager, Select an app and now tap on Storage.
Choose the downloaded APK and then tap on Patch.
Wait a while until ReVanced Manager finish to build the app then tap on Install.
A warning message tells to disable auto updates to avoid unexpected issues.
You may get a warning saying the app install has been blocked by Play Protect (this is normal because the app is not from the Play Store) and can be safely ignored by tapping More details then Install anyway.
If the install failed, tap the save icon in the bottom left.
With a file manager app browse the path where you saved it and install it.
Now open YouTube ReVanced app, you should get a message telling you that MicroG is not installed and you will be redirected to GithHub page to download and install it.
microG is required to be able to log into your YouTube account.
Open YouTube ReVanced again and you should now be able to follow the wizard to log in, if you don’t get a prompt for this, open the MicroG app and log into your YouTube account.
Done! Enjoy your YouTube patched version.
If you open again the ReVanced Manager dashboard you can see the YouTube app listed. Tap on Info under Last patched app you can install it again, export it and delete it. Tap on Info under Installed apps you can open it or uninstall it.
The patch process described in this guide for non-rooted device is equal for all the other apps you would like to patch.
Final notes:
If there are new patches than your installed version, you should update the app.
Updating is the exact same process as installing, so just follow the guide and repeat the process again.
Keep in mind that the YouTube version may change so you may need to download the new APK.
