Kodi is a powerful multimedia platform, but like any complex system, it can accumulate temporary files, unused cache, fragmented databases, and add-on or skin residues over time, compromising performance and stability. Regular maintenance is therefore essential, and this is where OptiKlean addon comes in.
This Kodi add-on was created to offer a complete solution for advanced cleaning and optimization of Kodi’s internal databases, including support for installed add-on databases.
The add-on also offers backup and restore functions.
Using OptiKlean, it is possible:
- Free up disk space by removing temporary and obsolete files,
- Remove remnants of disabled and uninstalled addons,
- Reduce the fragmentation of SQLite databases,
- significantly improve the response speed of the interface and the overall stability of the system,
- perform backups and restores of add-ons, add-on data, skins, databases, and Kodi configuration files.

OptiKlean addon features
The OptiKlean addon offers the following features:
- Clear cache and temp – allows you to clear Kodi temporary files and addons cache
- Clear thumbnails and artwork – allows you to delete unused thumbnails and those older than 30 days, removes cached artwork images that reference media items that no longer exist in your library.
- Clear addon leftovers – allows you to delete addon-related folders and any addon data by checking disabled addons and any remaining files and folders of uninstalled addons
- Clear Kodi packages – allows you to delete downloaded zip of addons
- Optimize databases – allows you to optimize both Kodi’s databases and those of any installed addons
- Cleanup dashboard – an information panel showing the space occupied by the various Kodi folders (add-ons, add-on data, Kodi packages, thumbnails); the estimated recoverable space if cleaning operations are performed.
There is a “Clear all!” button to start all cleaning operations immediately.

At the bottom of the same menu, there is an option to restore backup files.
In the add-on configuration, you can define a default location where to save backups. If not set, when you select a backup type from the add-on menu, you will be asked for the destination.
You can use the add-on from the interface or schedule cleaning and optimization in the add-on configuration to be performed automatically every few days.
The add-on provides detailed logs about each cleaning, optimization, backup/restore performed (see the View logs menu).
OptiKlean addon installation
- Go to Settings → File Manager, then select Add Source.
- Enter https://www.digitalking.it/kodi-repo/ as the address and any name you prefer (for example, DigiTalking repo).
- Go to Settings → Add-ons → Install from zip file.
- Select the newly added source, then select the zip file program.optiklean.zip and it will be installed.
- The add-on will be available in Settings → Add-ons → My Add-ons → Add-on Programs.
The addon is self-updating, after installing it manually the first time, if updates are available, they will be installed automatically when Kodi starts.
In the addon configuration you can enable or disable addon updates and set the time interval how often to check for updates.
