Remote access to your files and downloads of your P2P programs

By | 18 May 2010

You can remotely monitor downloads of P2P programs within specific web interfaces/plugins. It comes useful to access peer to peer programs everywhere you are. Let’s see how to enable the web interfaces of the most popular P2P programs:

Emule
To remote access via web you need to enable webserver in the options and point the browser to address http://ipaddress:4711 (it’s the default port used and must be opened if blocked from router/firewall/proxy).

Vuze
You can access the torrent client using the Vuze Web Remote plugin.
Install and use through: http://remote.vuze.com/ or http://yourcomputer:9091/ (the port 9091 must be opened in the router and not blocked by the firewall).

uTorrent
You can control the torrent client by enabling the remote control in the Preferences.
Alternatively you can also use the ng-torrent-ui project.

qBittorrent
You can control the torrent client by enabling the remote control in the program’s options -> web interface.

Tips: if your IP address change often you can use services like Dyndns or No-IP to reach your PC using hostname.
