For example with ADB you can push files to the device.<br \/>\nYou can send commands while the phone is turned on and booted, or even when it&#8217;s in recovery mode. ADB is often used in conjunction with rooting or modifying your phone.<\/p>\n<p>Fastboot allows you to send commands to the bootloader, which means you can flash\/modify things like custom recoveries.<br \/>\nFastboot isn&#8217;t enabled for all phones, so you may have to check your specific device.<\/p>\n<p>You can download these two tools form <a href=\"http:\/\/developer.android.com\/sdk\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Android SDK<\/a> but if you don&#8217;t want download the full package (where there are all the developers tools) you can download the <a href=\"http:\/\/forum.xda-developers.com\/showthread.php?t=2317790\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Minimal ADB and Fastboot<\/a> tool created and updated by a user of the famous XDA community, it just contains ADB and Fastboot.<\/p>\n<p>In Windows you must run these two tools from command line, so open a command prompt in the folder where you installed ADB and fastboot, C:Program Files (x86)Minimal ADB and Fastboot by default, you can also modify your path variable (from Windows environment variables -> system variables) to include the folder ADB and fastboot were installed to, so you can run those commands from any command prompt no matter what folder you&#8217;re in.<\/p>\n<p>The prerequisite to run these two tools is that the device must be connected to pc (via USB) and working properly.<\/p>\n<p>The drivers references for major smartphones\/tablets brands:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/developer.android.com\/sdk\/win-usb.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Google USB Driver<\/a> for Nexus.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.htc.com\/sea\/support\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">HTC Sync Manager<\/a> software HTC that includes drivers for HTC devices<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.lg.com\/support\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">LG support<\/a> you can search drivers for LG devices<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/motorola-global-portal.custhelp.com\/app\/home\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Motorola support<\/a> you can search drivers for Motorola devices<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.samsung.com\/support\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Samsung support<\/a> you can search drivers for Samsung devices<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/esupport.sony.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Sony support<\/a> you can search drivers for Sony devices<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.asus.com\/support\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">ASUS support<\/a> you can search drivers for ASUS devices<\/p>\n<p>Alternatively you can download the <a href=\"http:\/\/download.clockworkmod.com\/test\/UniversalAdbDriverSetup.msi\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">universal drivers<\/a> for any devices.<\/p>\n<p>To make the device and these tools working properly you must first enable Debug USB mode in the device: Settings > About Phone > scroll to the bottom > tap Build number 7 times.<br \/>\nGo back and now access the Developer options menu, check \u2018USB debugging\u2019 and click OK on the prompt to enable it.<\/p>\n<p>These tools are used in the following procedures that allow then to install <a href=\"https:\/\/www.digitalking.it\/en\/2014\/11\/20\/list-of-most-famous-custom-android-firmwares\/\">custom Android firmwares<\/a> (non stock):<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; unlock bootloader (generally make the device warranty no longer valid and may erase data)<br \/>\n&#8211; install custom recovery (the most famous are <a href=\"https:\/\/play.google.com\/store\/apps\/details?id=com.koushikdutta.rommanager&amp;hl=en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">ClockWorkMod<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/twrp.me\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">TWRP<\/a>)<br \/>\n&#8211; gain Super User privileges (root)<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p><span class=\"span-reading-time rt-reading-time\" style=\"display: block;\"><span class=\"rt-label rt-prefix\">Reading time:<\/span> <span class=\"rt-time\"> 2<\/span> <span class=\"rt-label rt-postfix\">minutes<\/span><\/span>ADB (Android Debug Bridge) and Fastboot are two tools allow you to send terminal commands to your phone from your computer via USB.
