Kodi is a powerful multimedia platform, but like any complex system, it can accumulate temporary files, unused caches, fragmented databases, and remnants of addons or skins over time, thus compromising performance and stability. Regular maintenance is therefore essential, and that’s where OptiKlean comes in.
This Kodi addon was created to provide a comprehensive solution for advanced cleaning and optimization of Kodi’s internal databases, including support for installed addon databases as well.
Using OptiKlean, it is possible:
- Free up disk space by removing temporary and obsolete files,
- Remove remnants of disabled and uninstalled addons,
- Reduce the fragmentation of SQLite databases,
- Significantly improve interface response speed and overall system stability.

Kodi addon functionality
The OptiKlean addon offers the following features:
- Clear cache and temp – allows you to clear Kodi temporary files and addons cache
- Clear unused/older thumbnails – allows you to delete unused thumbnails and those older than 30 days
- Clear addon leftovers – allows you to delete addon-related folders and any addon data by checking disabled addons and any remaining files and folders of uninstalled addons
- Clear Kodi packages – allows you to delete downloaded zippers of addons
- Optimize databases – allows you to optimize both Kodi’s databases and those of any installed addons
It is possible to use the addon from the interface or to schedule cleanup and optimization in the addon configuration.
The addon offers detailed logs about each cleanup and optimization performed (see the View logs menu).
It is currently in English but easy to understand.
Kodi addon installation
- Go to Settings > File manager and select Add source.
- As address type https://www.digitalking.it/kodi-repo/ and as name choose the name you prefer (eg. DigiTalking repo)
- Go to Settings → Addon, then select Install from a zip file.
Select the source just added, then select the zip file program.optiklean.zip and it will be installed.
- The addon will be available in Settings → Addons → My Addons → Add-on Programs.
The addon is self-updating, after installing it manually the first time, if updates are available, they will be installed automatically when Kodi starts.
In the addon configuration you can enable or disable addon updates and set the time interval how often to check for updates.
