The Minecraft phenomenon

Many of you maybe have heard about it, many others have played it, Minecraft is an idipendent video game written in Java (it requires JRE installed) born 2009 (Alpha version), next has been released Beta in 2010 and the final 1.0 version now in November 2011. We can sure talk about phenomenon as these are some important stats: over 17.4 millions people registered and still growing, over 4.2 mllions people that buyed the game.
Sure a big success like Angry Birds, even if Minecraft is born firstly for pc, recently also availble in pocket version for mobile (iOS and Android).
You can play Minecraft both via browser (registration required) or download the standalone version for Windows. It’s available also a free version called classic but with limitations (eg. outdated version, multiplayer not available).
The game has a pixeled graphic and consists mainly of adding and destroying blocks in a randomly generated world.
